Spend the evening with PMI networking and listening to renowned speaker, Payson Hall, who will present:
A Modest PMBOK® Proposal: Project Blame Management
One of the challenges faced by project managers trying to implement better practices is resistance to ideas that are new to the organization. In this talk, Payson Hall proposes an expansion to the existing PMBOK knowledge areas of Project Integration Management, Project Scope Management, Project Time Management, Project Cost Management, Project Quality management, Project Human Resources Management, Project Communication Management, Project Risk Management, and Project Procurement Management.
Payson proposes a new knowledge area called “Project Blame Management” (BM) to formalize something most organizations will recognize they already do —allocate blame for project failures. Payson believes that by formalizing an approach to Blame Management, project managers can demonstrate the value of more rigorous process to other knowledge areas. Effective Blame Management can also be a career boon to less effective project managers. This talk outlines Payson’s proposal for Blame Management and reviews significant aspects of his proposed “Blame Management Plan.”
